The Electronics Sustaining Engineer is accountable for ensuring the long-term performance, availability, and continuous improvement of Keeler’s electronic product platforms across their lifecycle.
This role plays a key part in safeguarding product continuity and customer outcomes by proactively managing component lifecycle, supply chain resilience, and in-market performance, while driving targeted design improvements to enhance reliability, cost, and manufacturability.
Working at the intersection of engineering, supply chain, and manufacturing, the role ensures that existing platforms remain robust, compliant, and competitive, whilst providing a critical bridge into future product development.
Key Responsibilities
- Product Continuity & Availability Own the ongoing viability of electronic systems by proactively managing component obsolescence, sourcing risks, and supply constraints, ensuring uninterrupted product supply and minimal business disruption.
- Sustaining & Continuous Improvement Lead and implement engineering changes (ECOs) to improve product reliability, performance, and cost, using structured problem solving and data-driven decision making.
- Failure Analysis & Field Performance Drive root cause investigations for production and field issues, translating insights into robust corrective and preventive actions that enhance customer experience and product quality.
- Supply Chain Integration Partner closely with supply chain to identify second sources, alternative components, and design-for-availability strategies, embedding resilience into product design.
- Technical Ownership of Released Products Act as the technical authority for released electronic platforms, maintaining deep system knowledge, documentation, and design intent throughout the product lifecycle.
- Bridge to Innovation & R&D Work hand-in-hand with R&D engineers on major platform updates and redesigns, ensuring continuity from legacy systems while supporting scalable, future-ready architectures.
- Compliance & Quality Ensure all changes and sustaining activities maintain compliance with relevant regulatory, safety, and quality standards, aligned with Keeler and Halma expectations.

- Comfortable working with lab equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators) to diagnose and resolve issues
- Experience owning or supporting products through their lifecycle, ideally in a sustaining or product support environment
- Practical experience with PCB design and schematic capture tools, and an understanding of design for manufacturability (DFM)
- Proven ability to lead structured problem solving, root cause analysis, and failure investigation, translating findings into robust corrective actions
- Working knowledge of reliability engineering principles and how they apply to real-world product performance
- Good understanding of component lifecycle, obsolescence, and supply chain considerations, with the ability to identify and implement viable alternatives
- Familiarity with relevant regulatory and quality standards (e.g. CE, UL, IPC), and how they apply to electronic products
