Halma is a proud advocate of gender equality; the contributions of our many female leaders help to enrich our business and society. We want to be a company where women, and people from all backgrounds, feel that they can belong and where they can flourish.

We are encouraged by the progress we have made on gender balance across the organisation and we continue to champion equal representation, opportunity, and access for women. Throughout the year we celebrate key events, including International Women’s Day, International Women in Engineering Day and US Women’s Equality Day and we invite colleagues to share their lived experiences so we can expand the conversation and inspire future generations.

Annie Bryant

“Diversity is essential in engineering because the team is only as good as the people who make it up. As a woman I'd like to think that I bring a unique perspective to a team and the same holds true for someone of a different race or sexual orientation”

Annie is Technical Project Manager at Apollo America based in Michigan, US which she joined in January 2021.  She's a graduate of Baker College with a Mechanical Engineering degree and is a STEM tutor

Annabella Lek

"You need to have people in your corner who believe in you and don’t judge you based on gender. Because I've been through it, I can harness my own experience to guide younger women and support them to thrive.”

Annabella is Technical Application Engineer at BEA Sensors Asia based in Singapore. Annabella has a well-rounded role including product training, technical support, customer consultations, product testing and business development. She describes her journey at BEA as fun and exciting, a long way from her early start in engineering when she was intimidated by a career in a male dominated industry. Having studied at an all-girls school, Annabella admits she feared judgment and failure in choosing engineering as a profession. She reminds us of the power of mentors and the role men play if forging a more gender balanced world for women.

Samantha Jacobson

“Every generation wants to make an impact and I feel like our generation is at the forefront of automated aluminium recycling. We’re helping to optimise the process and we’re offering it to a wide range of scrap and manufacturing companies. Being part of something like that is really cool.”

Samantha is a Systems Engineer at Ocean Insight, part of Halma’s Environmental & Analysis Sector. A graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology in New York, US, Samantha has been in her role for just over a year. In that short time, she’s already made significant contributions to the team. She is currently working on an innovative new product— The SpeedSorterTM  —which quickly and accurately sorts scrap aluminium for recycling, helping to protect one of our planet’s resources and supporting companies to bring more sustainable solutions to market. Sustainability and the environment is something Sam cares about and she talked to us about her love of engineering and how she hopes to make an impact.
