Job Summary
At Firetrace, our purpose is to protect lives and livelihoods by eliminating the impact of fire. The Material Handler is a critical member of the Operations Supply chain team. The Material Handler is responsible for storing, moving, and handling material in the warehouse while ensuring the goods are documented, packed, and dispatched to work cells on time. In addition, maintaining safety and cleanliness within the warehouse always.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintains inventory by identifying, labeling, and placing materials and supplies in stock; recording location of inventory
- Locates materials and supplies by pulling and verifying materials and supplies listed on production orders.
- Performs in system transfers from bins to ensure accurate inventory levels are always maintained within corporate platform.
- Works with production team to replace any non-confirming materials and submits proper documentation to any quality issues while transferring item(s) into the appropriate bin locations within system.
- Maintains in-process inventory at work centers by delivering and opening materials and supplies.
- Keep the warehouse organized and tidy and implement general housekeeping practices to maintain workplace cleanliness.
- Assist with weekly cycle-counts to maintain correct inventory levels within system as it will impact MRP creations.
- All other duties as assigned
- Ability to work cross-functionally within the operations (production, customer service, supply chain, operations, shipping, etc.) while maintaining a positive work environment.
- Ability to be self motivated to work independently and multi-task while receiving guidance from various team members. Works well in a fast-paced, high pressure environment.
- Follows all established safety and company policies
- Reports any problems to Materials Supervisor related to inventory levels, system issues, or other pressing issues.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school or GED diploma
- Minimum of 2 years of inventory and/or material handling experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
- Proven ability to work within a team environment and be a self-starter.
- Experience maneuvering pallet jack and forklift driving certification preferred.
- Other competencies – Basic math, writing and oral communication abilities.
- Excellent time management skills, with proven ability to meet deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Prolonged periods of standing/walking continuously and perform physical tasks.
- Ability to perform the essential job functions safely and successfully, consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
