Halma Group Chief Executive Andrew Williams recognised for championing women in business

24 September 2020

We are pleased to announce that Andrew Williams has been included in this year's HERoes 50 Advocates List, as a women's advocate. The recognition is testament to his ongoing efforts to increase gender diversity at Halma.

The HERoes 50 Advocates List recognises the top 50 global business leaders who are driving change for gender diversity in the workplace and inspiring the next generation of diverse talent. The list is run by INvolve, a global network championing diversity and inclusion in business.

In 2014, Andrew set out on the path towards improving the diversity and gender balance of Halma’s Executive Team, which at that time had no women represented. Today the Executive Team includes five women, making up 63% of the team. In addition, the gender balance among Halma’s Divisional Chief Executives (DCE), who run our portfolio of companies and lead our acquisitions, has also improved significantly with women making up 44% of DCE roles. Halma has also set targets for all its 45+ company boards to be within a 40 – 60% gender balanced range, and to help drive lasting change, Halma has launched a new global inclusion programme across all businesses.

Andrew has been an active member of the 30% Club since 2017, a membership organisation which campaigns for at least 30% of board seats to be held by women.

Three Halma executives were recognised last year by the Financial Times as part of their Women in Engineering Awards. Halma was one of only two companies represented more than once in the list, which acknowledges the top 100 most influential women in our industry.

Andrew Williams, Halma Group Chief Executive, commented: “We know that supporting women to thrive in the workplace is not just good for society, it’s also good for business, and I look forward to continue driving this important agenda together with my Executive Team. We are aware that there is more work that needs to be done across all forms of diversity at Halma, and we are committed to building inclusive businesses to help make this a reality.”
