Job Description

The Product Validation Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and managing validation activities to ensure products meet functional, performance, quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role works closely with design, development, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle to verify that product requirements are met and that customer expectations are exceeded.

Key responsibilities

  • Product Validation & Testing
  • Lead and support validation of new and current products, including functional, performance, environmental, and compliance testing.
  • Execute feasibility test plans and assist in developing test cases for new product concepts.
  • Conduct prototype, alpha, and beta testing for engineering builds providing clear feedback to development teams.
  • Identify issues, document defects, and collaborate with engineering and product management teams to resolve problems prior to release.
  • Perform competitive product testing and benchmarking to understand market expectations and guide product improvements.
  • Prototype & Early-Stage Evaluation
  • Participate in prototype evaluations, proof-of-concept testing, and new product feasibility studies.
  • Support rapid iteration by gathering test data, analyzing performance, and communicating findings to engineering and product teams.
  • Engineering Change & Current Product Support
  • Validate engineering changes for existing products to ensure quality and performance remain consistent.
  • Support field issue investigations by recreating problems, testing hypotheses, and providing structured reports to assist root-cause analysis.
  • Assist with custom product requests and engineering change requests from a validation/testing perspective.
  • Documentation & Compliance
  • Create and maintain test procedures, validation plans, and test reports for all assigned products.
  • Support upkeep of technical files, software files, and product compliance documentation.
  • Ensure testing and results meet relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Training & Cross-Functional Support
  • Provide technical insights during training development for internal teams (e.g., Sales & TSD).
  • Partner with product managers, engineers, and quality teams to ensure product readiness at each development stage.
  • Contribute to the improvement of internal validation tools and testing processes.

Competencies

Requirements

Degree(s) or certification(s):

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.

Recertification requirements:

Professional experience required (min.):

3–5 years of experience in product validation, testing, product development, or a related engineering discipline.

Technical competencies

  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle, including prototype evaluation, verification & validation processes, and engineering change management.
  • Hands-on experience with hardware and/or software testing, test plan execution, and documenting results.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze test data, identify root causes, and communicate clear, actionable findings to cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple validation tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment.
