Organisation and management

Head office

Halma is a highly decentralised organisation. A small head office team focuses on corporate strategy issues and maintains an overall framework of financial planning, reporting and control. It also provides a limited range of central financial services, including treasury, pensions, insurances and share plans, and leads Group strategic initiatives such as driving improvements in sales processes, innovation and people development.

Operational management

Halma subsidiary companies are grouped into operating Divisions, each of which is an autonomous unit responsible for its own growth organically and by acquisition. Each of the three major business sectors (Infrastructure Sensors, Health and Analysis and Industrial Safety) contains two or three operating divisions.

Subsidiary companies are given considerable freedom for entrepreneurial action. Research and development, manufacturing, sales and marketing, and human resources are all managed at subsidiary company level.

Each operating division is managed by a Divisional Chief Executive (DCE) who is a member of the Halma Executive Board.

The DCE is the Chairman of each of their subsidiary companies in their divisions. Their primary role is to provide insight, inspiration and leadership for the local management boards. Halma DCEs set objectives and targets for each company, measure performance and incentivise their managements. They are responsible for acquiring new businesses and for recruitment of high calibre managers to run the subsidiary companies.
